Joe Lowery serves as Vice President of Acquisitions at Cohen Investment Group (CIG). Joe is responsible for sourcing new investment opportunities and growing CIG’s portfolio of multifamily, office, retail, and self-storage assets throughout the Southeastern United States.
Prior to joining CIG in 2019, Joe was the Portfolio Manager for Wheeler Real Estate Investment Trust (WHLR), a publicly traded company. He was responsible for the development and implementation of investment strategies for the company’s portfolio of approximately 5.8 million square feet of retail. Joe played a key role in WHLR’s growth and was actively involved in the acquisition of 39 shopping centers throughout the Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, and Mid-West with a combined total asset value of approximately $407 million. Prior to joining Wheeler, Joe worked as a Sales and Leasing Agent for Divaris Real Estate, a regional commercial real estate brokerage firm where he focused on office leasing.
In addition to professional work experience, Joseph serves on the Board of Trustees for the Old Dominion Real Estate Foundation and also serves on foundation’s Finance and Audit Committee. He is a member of the Management Committee for the Urban Land Institute Virginia in Hampton Roads and serves as the Young Leader Chair, an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, and a Candidate Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM).
Joseph holds a M.S. in Real Estate Valuation from Virginia Commonwealth University and a B.S. in Business Administration from Old Dominion University. In his free time, he likes hiking or relaxing at the beach, playing golf, and is an aviation and car enthusiast.
